It's funny, I'm in the financial capacity to buy specialized bread, but I came up in a household that used sliced bread for almost everything(burger, dog, etc) only had buns for cookouts when you invite folks over.

I had a similar mindset. Then I realized, when confronted with bunch of leftover buns after a cookout, buns can serve the role of bread as non-hamburger or non-hotdog sandwich delivery systems. Living in Western NY, we have a particular bakery called Castanzo’s, that makes astonishingly good buns, sub rolls, etc. I would be happy if every sandwich for the rest of my life lived on a Costanzo’s kaiser roll.
