Haven't felt ready to post because of how much it still hurts. My 15.5 y/o Chester, who rescued me as much (if not more) as I did him, passed away on 12/4/2024. These are the last photos I took of him. I am forever broken.

We rescued Chester in 2009, and this summer he turns 15. He still loves ringing in the warm season with extended back rubs on the lawn. 😍

August harvests are a wonder! As of this haul, which includes my very first bell pepper, I can now say I grew at least one of *everything* I initially planted. I know the work that went into it, but it still feels like I struck gold. 😍πŸ₯²β€οΈπŸ…πŸ«‘πŸ™

My first season, and I did all the wrong things with tomatoes: directly-sown (and too deeply) outdoors, when the nights still got into the 40s. I had all but given up, but then plants sprouted in late June. Today, I present to you my no-so-Early Girls. πŸ₯²πŸ…❀️

My PIL are on vacation, so I am tending to their garden. Not sure how, but they missed a cucumber. Seven-year-old for scale.

My very first melon! A green cantaloupe (Diplomat variety) weighing in at 6lbs. 7.2 oz. It smelled AMAZING the moment I nipped it off the vine. The taste? No words. 🀯🀀🀀🀀

Deeply grateful to report that I have had wonderful luck throughout this (my first!) season with everything I've planted... ...except for peppers. 😞 I know now the *many* mistakes I made, and look forward to next season, but is this what I think it is??? 🀞🀞🀞
