is a dedicated phono preamp such an big improvement over the built in one?

Coming from listening to headphones primarily, i wanted to expand the music listening area from my office to the living room and got myself some speakers and a pickup and it was the best audio decision so far. i was tempted to get myself a suitcase (yes i know now that it was a dodged bullet) but after some time spent on reviews a gut myself an audio tehnica LP70X paired with some Kef LSX 2 speakers (amazing sound for their size). At the moment i am using the internal preamp of the pickup straight into the speakers and i love the sound, but in so many guides i saw most of the people using a dedicated phono preamp and this thought got stucked in the corner of my mind. Would a dedicated phono preamp like the ifi zenphono or something similar would be a big improvement to the dinamics of the sound over the built in one? if you have any recomandations i am more than pleased to look into them, but having in mind the whole setup i would want something with a small form factor.
