Why is the fitness community so fascist-ic?
It's absolutely wild how mask off these people are with their fascist language and dog whistles that not even actual right-wing political commentators use this kind of language.
If you want to get into the online fitness community, especially male dominated spaces such as bodybuilding, you will see people talking about "degeneracy" such as femininity and weakness, and that usually means feminine men and fat people ofc. They are incredibly sexist, chauvinistic and misogynistic. Talking about how great and grandiose men are and the "us vs them" mentality and how "masculinity" is a divine purpose and how specifically male weakness and degeneracy and women (and probably poc) will bring "the destruction of western civilization".
It's not just an online thing, I've seen these kind of people in real life since I started working out six years ago. I genuinely don't know how such an apolitical activity such as staying physically fit can be filled with fascists and low-key Nazi sympathizers . Is there a natural correlation between being physically fit and being right-wing, bordering on fascist or am I missing something?
I just want some swolecialist comrades, smh...
Edit: People seem to be misinterpreting what I said in the post. For clarification: I'm not saying that everyone who works out is a fascist, that's just ridiculous. Because I have been working out for six years, does that makes me a fascist? No
The problem I have seen is that I have only met two types of swole people: on one hand you got the nicest, most helpful and chill gym bros and on the other hand you got ultra machos who want to honor the barbaric lifestyle and ancestry or some bullshit and have fascist tendencies. Which is a huge problem of course, we can't let fascism keep spreading.
Just look at the memes some of these people are sharing. Reject modernity, embrace tradition and masculinity? Reject degeneracy? Female detected, opinion invalidated? Jokes about fat people? These are not some niche memes, these are almost mantras for entire communities.
