Strange bug??

I'm on my second playthrough, this time trying to complete everything. I've almost finished everything in Chapter 2, but stumbled on something bizzare when returning to camp. All the characters were going nuts, searching around on the floor for something. When I attempt to greet them, they give no explanation and just react as normal. Then when I left the camp, Hosea and Kieran follow me on their horses ! They don't say why, they just start following me around. What is going on ! I never remember this from my first playthrough. Is this a bug ?
