Words of Wisdom for New Puppy Owners?

Can we all just say a few words to encourage new puppy owners? We all know it can be tough, but what do you wish you'd known when you started out? For me, I wish I'd realised sooner that my chosen breed (GSP) has VERY different needs and developmental milestones from many other breeds. I pushed him too hard at first because I was focused on what other breeds were doing at his age, with things like toilet training or sleeping through the night.
My advice? Just... relax and go with the flow. IT WILL BE OK.
