Really looks like Neurosis as a collective is done for good. Jason Roeder just posted on Instagram that he is "no longer a touring musician" and will be selling off most, if not all of his gear.
As a fan of Neurosis for well over 20 years now, I was holding out hope that the rest of the group sans Scott would be able to forge ahead, either under a new name or otherwise. But this really seems to be the final, final nail in that coffin.
Jason is such a fantastic drummer, as I'm sure all of you here would agree. He was crucial to Neurosis being what they were. And with the news of him seemingly retiring from music in general, I think it's clear that this collective is officially done.
I was already resigned to the fact that they probably wouldn't be reforming or ever do anything together again, but I still had a tiny sliver of hope that maybe something else would be coming down the pipeline. It's a sad end to such an important band.
For all those who are interested, Jason's Instagram name is roeder_hits_things. He will be posting gear over the coming days and weeks for purchase, pickup and delivery exclusively in the Portland, OR area.
