The theme of the movie brought back childhood trauma
I went into seeing LongLegs without knowing what it was ab (aside from it being ab a detective investigating a serial killer). I didn’t think I would be super scared bc I had seen on tik tok that the movie wasn’t a “jump scare” type of movie and such. The opening scene of LongLegs waiting outside Lee’s house triggered me - when I was a child, I was home alone with my baby brother asleep upstairs and a man knocked on my door and claimed to be State Police, he kept yelling “state police open up, I know you’re in there”. I didn’t open the door (thank god) but I peaked out the window and he saw me and said “tell your parents I’ll be back.” He eventually drove away after sitting outside of my house (in a car very similar to the one in the opening scene in the movie) for a very long time. My mom called the police once she was home and they confirmed that they didn’t send anyone to my house and that other people had called with the same complaints.
I know it’s not the exact same as the movie but there were definite similarities and it brought me back to the day. I’m wondering if anyone else had a similar experience of not really knowing the overall synopsis and having a similar situation happen to you IRL?
