I remember going to a museum with brutal wax figures in early 90's. What museum did I go to?

As a child, I remember going to this museum that depicted either the Japanese occupation or the draconian anti-communist (or the Korean War) in rather graphic wax figures (torture methods, etc.). I think the museum had other non-wax things too outside of these topics. It was in the early 90s, and had to have been before 1993.

I don't think it was the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History as that place is too big. The place I visited was much smaller.

What museum did I visit?

edit: looking at photos of the torture section of the Seodaemun Prison History Hall, I think this was it. It opened in 1993 as a museum
