RATGDO Wiring - Do button and obst. sensor wires need to pass through ratgdo?

Referring to the wiring diagram (from this page), it seems very clear that you have to DISCONNECT your wired button and your obstruction sensor from the garage door openers and route to blue terminal block of the ratgdo.

But I have seen one youtube video (and also a comment in this post from soonerfan237, albeit he has an older board) indicating no need for that, just add the three wires from the small white harness for the ratgdo into the existing garage door opener terminals with the existing wiring.

Can anyone confirm (for latest v2.53i board)?
