Looking for recommendations of series with a good reason for harems.

I’m getting a little tired of the first love interest in a book saying something like “I saw you looking at her. Don’t worry, I’m okay with sharing. You’re too important/whatever to keep all too myself”. Then bam, that’s the introduction to the need for a harem and suddenly it’s okay for the MC to get his dick wet wherever he wants. I’m looking for more complex reasons to start a harem as well as the potentially difficult discussions and potential jealousy that might be present at the start. A huge gender ratio difference is more reasonable of a reason which is great but I am looking for potentially something with a bit more nuance.

Think about having a harem in today’s world and the types of discussions and initial awkwardness of it would be. I’m looking for something like that if anyone has any suggestions. Any would be appreciated. Thanks!
