After some experimenting with Sarugami Armor, I now think it's better than Gosaku Armor

Sarugami Armor – This is the best armor. It is completely overpowered BUT only if you are good at parrying and dodging. If you are not good at parrying or dodging, you won’t find much use for this armor. I used to think Gosaku was the best until I decided to work on my parrying. To get good at parrying or dodging just replay a camp that you have already cleared and don’t do anything but parry or dodge. If your timing is good you can literally hold back numerous enemies. My limit appears to be 4 generic melee enemies. When it’s 5 or more, there’s just too much happening on the screen for me to process. You can even parry incoming enemies that are behind you and that you are not looking at. I’ve observed that you are only attacked by an enemy one at a time. One enemy might attack you and it will be immediately followed up by an attack from a different enemy, but it will never be simultaneous. What makes this armor enjoyable is the beautiful cinematic moves after a perfect parry or perfect dodge. When you pull off a perfect parry; hit any attack button, then pause, hit any attack button, then pause, then hit any attack button. You will get 3 unblockable attacks. When you pull off a perfect dodge, just hit any attack button once. One drawback is that you will sometimes purposely wait for an attack instead of go on the offensive. You can enhance this armor even more by using the major charm that makes parrying and dodging easier. I personally find pulling off a perfect parry is easier than a perfect dodge. To add an offensive element to the armor, use minor charms to enhance stagger damage; i.e. charm of bludgeoning. Does this armor make the game easier? Yes, but it's just so beautiful to watch when you get in a perfect parry or perfect dodge.

Here is how I like to charm up Sarugami Armor:

major - Amaterasu, killing enemies restores a moderate amount of health

major - Mizu-no-Kami, parries, perfect parries, and perfect dodges are easier to perform

minor - bludgeoning, increases stagger

minor - bludgeoning

minor - bludgeoning

minor - rejuvenation, slowly recover up to 2 resolve while in combat

Gosaku Armor – I used to think this was the best, but I now place it at #2. It enhances stagger by default, I charm it up for even more stagger. If you have trouble with bosses that have shields, use this armor. You can break through their defenses very easily. If you are good at offensive attack timing and judging the spacing between you and an enemy, with the occasional defensive fallback to get your bearings, and you are not good at parrying or dodging, this is the armor for you.

If you like to use a particular armor strictly for the looks, then that's fine. This post is more about functionality.
