Plan of attack for smoother/better floating?

Really struggling with a ceiling patch where I moved the exhaust fan in the laundry room. Walls I'm generally ok with but ceilings I seem to struggle with.

The only light in this room is from the ceiling light (no windows) so shadows are almost non-existent. There will be new cabinets /crown moulding 12" from the wall so some of the imperfections will be covered up but I'd still like to try and get this as smooth/seamless as possible.

Have various sizes of knives, and two skimming blades (level5 16" and 24")

What would be the order of operations for improving this? The imperfections are not terribly visible with just the light but fear they will be once I prime (been there, done that on another ceiling thar I still need to address so I'm trying to use this small patch to hone my skill for the larger one in our kitchen area thar I need to do).

Any thoughts? Attached are some pics. Hopefully they are good enough to convey the issue.

Thanks.
