new snare help

hey there! just received a 13” pearl marching snare, looking to do some fixer-upping on it. i just have a list of things i am wanting to do that i need some help on

• looking to replace heads, top head is a hybrid-s, and the bottom is an max-5

• possibly repaint the shell, it’s an old drum (instructor thinks pre-2000’s) so the finish might need to be sanded off

• definitely need to grease lugs, i’ve heard petroleum grease is the way to go but i’m not sure

any tips for tuning 13” inch drums or any other advice is appreciated
