why don't hospitals care about us??

i work on a 15 room oncology unit. 15 rooms isn't a lot, but it's a cancer unit and these patients are very sick. The PCAs on my unit NEVER call out but we've all been pulled every day for the past week because other people in our hospital call out. Which leaves me with a 1:15 ratio while the nurses currently have a 1:3 ratio. I asked them if they could PLEASE get all of their own vitals at 3 pm since I did all of the 7 and 11 am ones on top of baths and turning. one of them literally told me "hell no, i bathed one of your patients for you" im just in shock because i usually work night shift on my unit and they're so much more helpful... i just don't get why they're SO strict on staffing ratios with nurses but don't give a fuck about our ratios as PCAs.
