Malpractice for sub I

I'm an MD starting work as a sub I for an outpatient private practice clinic. There are about 20 studies going on at this clinic with different sponsors. Do I need malpractice? I was told every sponsor covers the sub I, but haven't seen any documentation of this. Do I need to purchase a malpractice policy? Appreciate any thoughts!
