What is something that you bring camping that is worth it’s weight in gold?

I am a big fan of spending money on lightweight camping gear, being able to single carry portage saves a heck of a lot of time!

However there are some items that add weight to the pack, but are worth it in gold. For me I would rather add a pound or 2 on my shoulders if it enhanced my experience to enough of a degree.

Mine are as follows:

1) my porlex stainless hand coffee grinder. I use whole beans and hand grind for my aero press. One of my favorite moments during a trip is enjoying a delicious cup of joe after breakfast. GOOD coffee is a non negotiable for me.

2) hammock. There is something about being able to enjoy such comfort on the edge of a lake in the middle of nowhere you trekked days to that cannot be described. This is where I nap, read, reflect and most often have my moments of gratitude.

3) binoculars. This is because Im an avid birder but also to see lots of other wildlife, and comes in handy spotting hard to see portage signs from the lake. There have been many moments where I was so thankful I had them.
