Bose QC Ultra Headphones Wear Detection Sensor: Interesting Findings!
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some interesting observations I’ve made about the Bose QC Ultra Headphones and their wear detection sensor. As you might know, these headphones have a sensor that detects when you’re wearing them and auto-pauses/plays your music accordingly. Recently, I noticed my music was pausing randomly, and I couldn’t figure out why the headphones weren't detecting if they were on my head or not.
After some testing, I discovered that the wear sensor actually works alongside the accelerometer, meaning it detects not just if you have the headphones on but also if you’re sitting, standing, or even how the headphones are positioned. Here's what I found out:
- If the headphones are laying flat, like on a table, they won’t play music, even if you try covering the wear sensor.
- However, if you place the headphones upright (like they would be when you're wearing them), and then I put my fingers inside the right ear cup, the music would start playing. When I removed my fingers, it paused. But when the headphones were flat, the same finger test didn’t work.
So, my theory is that the sensor is also tied to the physical position of the headphones. If you’re wearing the headphones while lying down, or maybe with them slightly off-axis, that could be why the music is pausing unexpectedly.
The solution? Either turn off the wear sensor in the settings or use the pause/play button when you’re in a "non-traditional" position with your headphones (like lying down on a couch).
Anyone else noticed this? Let me know your thoughts!
