I'm really enjoying anti-colonial music and would love to hear your favs regardless of genre or language
I'm afro-latine and I've been thinking a lot about ancestors, both deceased loved ones and people I never met. Two songs came on back to back from shuffleplay of my liked music. Slow up by Jacob Banks, and Butchered Tongue by Hozier. And out of raw emotion, I was moved to tears. Strongly recommend both songs and both artists. I'm developing an intense fascination with the art, music and literature of oppressed peoples. If you feel comfortable sharing them with me, I would love to hear your favorite anti-colonial or anti-racist songs. Along with a little bit context for what it's about and what language it is in. It doesn't have to be in English or Spanish. It can be in any language or genre. I'll look up translations. Being able to see through a window into the culture, art and/or history of someone is such a beautiful gift. So thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to share that with me.
