About Hiiragi Magnetite's latest song and its resulting controversy and harassment (a rant) (WARNING: Long, highly controversial post)
Warning: This is a LONG, and very controversial content. If you don't want to read, skip to TL:DR section, or scroll past. Read at your own risk.
-My honest review (or rant) about Zako:
The choice of using Kaai as the singer here to sing mildly suggestive things is a weird, risky and controversial choice, to say the least, but at least everything else (music, lyrics) isn't as bad as people make it look.
I am a repeat listener and I loved the instrumentals, hopefully someone releases an off-vocal version to make it less controversial.
Compared to more fucked-up songs of vocaloid (I listened to such an unhealthy amount of perverted Len songs to the point of being desensitized), the lyrics is mild, objectively speaking.
It's about being a mesugaki, which by itself, isn't sexual on its own.
It's a term about a girl who loves to tease her senpais just for fun... In that sense, she's (endearingly) teasing the viewer calling them a "noob", because she likes the viewer for being pathetic, which I personally find it endearing instead of sexual. This may be mildly suggestive but still not bad enough to be Kurumi★Ponchio levels of explicit like how the commenters perceive it.
However, just because Hiiragi released this doesn't mean that his upcoming songs will be just as bad or worse (Opinion may change if the next song after is indeed just as bad or worse, that'd be a justifiable issue that needs to be addressed.)
It's just that the only issue here is that he could've used an adult voicebank for these kind of subjects to prevent the flame from starting in the first place, and that Hiiragi (and Channel) can either remake this with a different vocaloid (someone make a Luka cover pls it would be funny) or release a new song with lyrics that satisfy snowflakes here, but the only solution here is wait.
The song may be hate-mongering like Rabbit Hole, but there is no justifiable reason to harass Hiiragi himself, because most of the comments on YT (and most especially X, If YT comments are bad, I'm too scared to even go to X) are harassing Hiiragi, when the real issue ONLY applies to the song itself but not to any other of his songs (and potentially upcoming songs) and Hiiragi as a whole (unless he releases a song that is even worse, that's a different issue to talk about later). I don't remember Hiiragi even having a consistent record of controversial songs and other controversial activity.
It may be thought of as a pedophilic act, but it could also be one of the biggest fuck-ups in vocaloid history that the producer might soon regret and must resort to issuing an apology.
It's understandable that he hires channel as a way to try to get popular, but using Kaai is the last straw which might've triggered a lot of snowflakes.
According to purists in YT (and especially X), since Kaai is underaged, she should not be used in inappropriate places like lewd fanart and stuff as well as on very fucked-up songs that involve:
excessive use of profanity, harassment, racism, organized crime, trafficking, death, occultism, horror, murder, gore, child abuse, rape, sexual grooming, bestiality, CP, CSAM, BDSM, illegal drugs, incest, porn, Kurumi★Ponchio levels of perversion, etc.,
but can this logic also apply to songs with mildly sexual subjects?
Honestly, I don't know, considering that Hiiragi never used Kaai before and probably skipped the TOS just like us, uninformed of what was about to come, like who would read a many-page TOS? Not me and also not him either. He may have broke it, but I'm still unsure if whether this is intentional or not. If it was, then legal action may be taken, which is not good for Hiiragi.
If people still associate Hiiragi himself as bad, get a reality check, go outside and touch grass.
Honestly, if people think this is THAT bad, just wait until PJSK gets an announcement regarding the removal of ALL of his songs, which I fear and never wanted this to happen. This already happened with a producer before (TUYU), and I don't want a repeat of that ever.
Some people are blowing this out of proportion, really. People will try to find ANYTHING to harass innocuous artists like Hiiragi for just a single fuck-up and dumb them down to their level because they have no lives outside the internet.
I wonder what will Kaai's anonymous provider will think about this, considering she's probably already in her mid-20s now.
-End of Rant-
TL:DR: The song may have a bad reputation, but Hiiragi himself is not bad.
The issue lies with the choice of voicebank used. (Unless the next song is even worse, that'd be a justifiable problem that needs to be addressed).
To hate this song is valid, but harassing Hiiragi as a whole is just a bit too much.
