How does the normal, average, lower resourced person prep for this madness?
I am trying my best to manage my anxiety levels with all this madness.
For context --
- I am the sole income provider for my family of 2 adults and 2 large dogs
- My spouse is near retirement age (64) but receives a modest Social Security disability payment
- My wife and I are both gay and non-binary
- I am a healthcare provider evaluating suicidal and homicidal people
- We rent and do not own a home nor plan to
- We have tiny savings in a high yield credit union but are willing to pull it out and put it in a safe, if warranted
- We are legally married but also have our estate planning documents done
- We have all of our legal documents in a safe
We are not well resourced. We do not have natural supports. We cannot leave the country or have family to go to. We cannot afford to buy $1k versions of a Jackery. We live in a small apartment and cannot stockpile much, if anything.
My job is so, so stressful. I'm terrified our marriage will be overturned. I'm terrified of how that will impact my wife's medical care.
What are the normal, every day humans doing to "prep" for this madness?
