The Simpsons Fun Facts

The fictional city of Springfield from The Simpsons is located in an unknown state in the United States. The show's creator, Matt Groening, has said that the city was inspired by real-life locations, including his hometown of Portland, Oregon and the nearby town of Springfield, Oregon. Groening has said that he chose the name Springfield because it's one of the most common names for a city in the United States. He wanted to make Springfield feel like a generic "Anytown, USA". To emphasize this, the show's creators intentionally include contradictory clues about Springfield's location, climate, geology, history, and political alignment. However, the show's creators have also acknowledged the connection between Springfield and Oregon.
