Dentist messed up my bite I think, what now ?
I went to the dentist for a routine checkup and to address tooth sensitivity. They told me one of my teeth was filled too high, causing excessive contact, and that the filling was close to the root. To prevent the need for a root canal, they decided to shave the tooth down. Everything seemed fine until later that evening, when I started experiencing pain from my ear to my jaw.
I scheduled another appointment, during which the dentist shaved down two more teeth, saying they were also filled too high. They suggested I might be grinding my teeth at night and recommended a night guard. I got the night guard and have been wearing it for a week, but I still have daily face pain, jaw pain, and discomfort while chewing. Even smiling hurts because of the pain.
I feel like something isn’t right. The dentist seems dismissive, insisting that I grind my teeth at night, but my partner, who is a light sleeper, has never noticed this. The pain began the same day they first adjusted my bite. What can I do ? My insurance only covers one initial exam per year and I’m worried the next dentist can’t fix it either
