What if a group of Ancients survived to modern times and had decided to dedicate their future existence to exploring and interacting with the greater universe?
Far from finished, but this is my attempt at blending all the Ancient styles into a massive city ship capable of housing millions of people and races for entire lifetimes.
What if the the smartest Ancients, such as Janus for example, stayed behind and built the grandest, most technologically advanced ship the universe had ever seen, whose sole purpose was the exploration of the universe?
The ship would be designed to be its own self contained world. A floating metropolis that would be a hub of cultural exchange, diplomacy, refuge, power, etc wherever it went.
They could come across warring galactic powers and become a neutral base of operations for the people of that galaxy. They could host peace talks, squash rebellions, share technology and knowledge. Etc etc.
The ship, being so large and unrivaled in power, and capable of sustaining millions of people indefinitely, could trek across the universe in peace with the most diverse population of aliens and creatures ever seen.
