I'm disappointed with the ending of Smile 2
I'm really frustrated and sad that they went the same route again they did in the first movie, by giving false hope, just to let the entity win and shock the audience. It was so predictable and honestly, shows again how they missed the opportunity again, to tell an empowering message and deal better with sensitive topics like suicide, depression, trauma and addiction. But nope, the went the "shocking dark twist ending route" again and it's annoying. Especially if you are a person that deals with similar issues and can partially relate to the main characters. It's a message so cynical, hopeless and nihilistic, saying something like "well, you can't escape your trauma and problems, so you should just kill yourself". I mean I get it, the director wants to make more sequels and that means the entity has to win and succeed, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. But they could've at least ended it with somewhat of a slight ray of hope and positivity. Now it's just as dark as the ending of the first one. I really hope they don't milk this franchise dry and that the third movie is going to be the last one. It would be a great trilogy and honestly, I don't know how they could expand this concept even more after the third one. And I hope the third movie has a more hopeful ending, with them defeating or even killing the entity.
