Something like the Black Dagger Brotherhood?

So, setting wise, the Black Dagger Brotherhood (written by J. R. Ward) is a group of elite warriors who serve to protect the vampire population from the Lessers, who are a sort of evil-god-led cult evil humans convert to so they can gain abilities.

Vampire society is very stratified, and the Brothers of the Brotherhood get major kudos, apparently.

These vampires, however, don't feed on humans, but on vampires of the opposite sex + they eat actual food. They live very long a day are somewhat sensitive to light, and reproduction wise their females go through something called "needing", which is basically a heat where they also get to drink their mate's blood.

So, I have been dying for an RH version of this, and I'm not 100% sure that Joely Sue Burkhardt series fits the bill.
