Camp site managers dog bit me
I stopped by the community kitchen b/c the camp managers golf cart was parked outside and I needed to ask him a question. I entered in the door and his dog was with him but not restrained. Half way in the door he approached me and I put out my palm for him to smell and a split second later he jumped and went for my face. Camp managers wife took me to the ER and about 4 hours later we left with me stitched up. What’s done is done.. I’m mostly worried about the ER and medical bills..draining my savings to pay for them cause the manager won’t be able to. I know they don’t want the owner involved cause that would cause a whole new mess, even though owners insurance could cover my med expenses and possibly if I choose to have surgery if it’s not healing right. The dog took a chunk out of my lip and the ER doc was adamant about me going to see a dermatologist. But I don’t have the money for that and neither does the manager so it’s just gonna make my life worse if I get work done. You can’t chase down someone that has no money..and I can deal with scars. This site..I’ve lived here for 3 years. There’s over 200 units but only a handful of us that stay 11 out of the 12 months. What would you do? Decide to not be docile, call a lawyer (closest ones are 3 hour drive away) and contact the camp owner? That would almost certainly mean the manager is looking at a loss of his job and eviction of him and his wife. Or just expect to have to pay the ER bill, not consider the dermatologist option, and just hope the manager at least tries to slowly reimburse me the medical bills? At least this last option helps keep the peace for now. I’m not ready to move just yet..and I’m not ready for if the owner and manager react negatively to this
