Does Nightvision Lower Sanity?

My friends and I were doing the weekly challenge mode this week, which included the use of tier III items. This was our first experience using the tier III headgear since the recent changes.

We were wondering if the night vision prevents sanity loss when in a dark room, or if you still drop sanity when using it?

If you still lose sanity, is it at the same rate as it would be when standing in a dark room with nothing? Or does it at least lower the rate of sanity loss?

We had no issues with the hunts, this was more of a curiosity question (and might be helpful when doing more challenging hunts at higher levels). Having all tier III gear was great!
