Do some of yall feel a disconnection to the characters after finishing goodnight Punpun?

Recently, I've been feeling very disconnected from the characters of Goodnight Punpun, I just seem to view them as part of a story, which kind of saddens me since my experience on reading the book was probably one of the most shocking, thrilling, and sad experiences I've had reading any piece of literature.

So I'm asking all the og's, do you all feel connected to the characters, even after all this time? or do you just view them as a part of the story
