On December 7, 2007, 37-year-old Ecuadorean window cleaner Alcides Moreno fell nearly 150 meters (500 feet) during a scaffolding collapse in New York City. Remarkably, doctors found he could move all his limbs and breathe on his own. Against all odds, he went on to make a recovery.
