Why do lightning strikes seem less lethal than electrical outlet accidents?

Maybe it's just because I've heard more about people surviving lightning strikes than surviving electrical outlet accidents, but it really seems like the latter is more lethal. Can anyone elaborate? Am I wrong for assuming this or is it true?
