6yro Son badly choked on the Bus: Advice!

I’m not sure what advice I’m looking for.

We already went to the school and the police for a report. Maybe the police was an over reaction but it felt like the right thing to do after seeing my son.

He’s six years old. We picked him up from the bus stop and he was hysterical. Crying and hardly able to breathe. Once we were able to get him calmed down enough he told us a child had choked him until he couldn’t breathe anymore. He said the child threatened him to sit and then shortly after started choking him. He said he screamed out for help and started yelling ‘help me’ to his older brother, but that the child was choking him so bad that he couldn’t really yell. His older brother did end up hearing and came to him and that’s when the child stopped choking him. It was so upsetting. Why would a child do this? I immediately called the school, but they were closed. I left a message . Then, we drove to the police station to file a report.

Our son was terrified. He said the child was trying to kill him. Our son could hardly talk, and it seemed like he was having a panic attack. We’ve never seen him so distraught. Heaving his breaths and grasping his neck to massage it. I’m so upset. I’m so angry. I’m so heartbroken. Im soooooo pissed. We can’t connect with the school deputy, who we’ve been advised to contact, until Monday. Police said they will be pulling the bus cameras. Maybe it’s a good thing I can’t talk to anyone until Monday. It gives me time to collect my anger and anxiety.

The child that did this to him is only 7. I’m just at a loss for words. I’m so angry right now. Yeah he’s just 7. But he made my 6yro son fearful for his own life!! Wtf??! I’m not going to let this go. I’m going to take every avenue possible to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I just need some advice.

EDIT with small update:

I talked to both my sons more in depth this morning after breakfast. The child has already been reported to the bus driver for cussing out another 5yro on the bus. My sons have told me that this kid tells my son and the other little boy to “sit the F down” “shut the F up btch.” And frequently calls them both mother Fers.

After being reported to the bus driver by my older son and the other little boy’s sister, the child had to start sitting at the front of the bus.

So here’s what I’ve been told after talking to both of my sons separately and then together. My 6yro usually always sits with his older brother. Yesterday was odd when he didn’t. My 6yro said that the 7yo forced him to sit in his seat closer to the front by telling him to “get the F in this seat” and started to pinch him on the leg. He has a small bruise from where he was pinched by the 7yro. My son said that the child randomly got rude and angry for no reason and that’s when he started to strangle him. He said he stopped then randomly did it again. Which resulted in all of the original post.

The bus does have cameras that we are requesting to be viewed. I do believe that something seriously bad might be occurring in this child’s home. Or at the very least, he has a behavioral problem that needs to be addressed and closely monitored.

I’ll let you know more after Monday. I’m going to update this post, because if it’s not taken seriously, I’ll probably be releasing the school district’s name. However, we love this district and believe fully that they will take it very seriously!
