Probably been posted a million times, but what is a good starter metal detector that doesn’t cost a fortune and gives a decent chance of finding things if they are there to be found

Really been wanting to try this properly for a while, it’s appeals for loads of reasons. Looking at buying one now, or soon, and there seems to be a few makes that keep coming up when I search for advice. Just wondering what’s the most popular, gives the best performance for the cost, is it worth buying second hand, and does anyone know of either any good sales on anywhere currently, or know of which models are trustworthy if buying second hand? Any help would be greatly appreciated, really want to get out there but not sure where to start.
