Engine Replacement Question

So I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7l engine. It recently developed rod knock, and I'm looking at replacement options. This is probably a stupid question, but will a 2007 4.7l engine still work with it or did they make changes to the engine in between years? Again sorry for the stupid question, just want to clarify so I don't waste my money.
