Alexandrite laser or Sciton BBL IPL

Hey everyone!

As you can see from the title I’m trying to figure out what would be the best course of action for me when it comes to getting rid of underarm hair.

I am a 21 year old with fair skin and dark hairs on my underarms. I’m stuck choosing between two different clinics…

One offers laser hair removal, I was told they would use the Alexandrite laser on me and they offer a package of 7 sessions. I was told it would work great for me.

The other clinic uses the Sciton BBL IPL device. I’ve heard a bunch of negative things on IPL vs laser but the esthetician was really able to respond to all my questions, saying that professional ipl is different than at home and that the negative views on ipl come from workers who don’t know how to use it well or are scared to use it to its full potential and so it doesn’t bring results. She told me she’s been using the machine for 15 years and her clients are all very happy about everything, she mentioned her own personal experience with it and how long hairs usually take to go... She also told me it would take between 6-7 sessions just like laser. I did go look at reviews and it seems people are very happy about how their sessions are going and no one is saying it’s not working. I definitely vibed with her better and it’s a little less expensive than the laser but I’m just stuck on all these people saying laser is better than ipl.

Do any professionals have an opinion or do you guys have any experience with the machines? What would give the best results? Is the experience/pain different? I’ll take any advice! Thank you

Ps: I was also wondering if I do end up wanting to do my legs, the hairs there are definitely less corse and less dark than my underarms. I also have keratosis pilaris on my legs. Would laser or ipl be better for that? Thanks again
