Hypocritical Humphrey men
I’m on season 5 and it’s really disheartening to see the Humphrey men lose themselves to the UES world. I know how the show ends so I guess it’d only be a matter of time for Dan and Rufus’ mask of virtue to slip off but it’s still frustrating to see bc it takes away from the originality of their characters. At this point in the show, they both no longer have the quirks and charm they had early in the show that made their characters refreshing and now their hypocrisies are way too transparent. They both judged the UES and gave Jenny so much heat in the earlier seasons for trying to fit in with that crowd and now 5 seasons later, they have become so enmeshed with that crowd while still looking like counterparts to it. At least if Jenny were still here, she’d most likely use her UES ties to her advantage for her dreams and actually become a fashion designer and at one point, Dan did achieve that as well with his book but now his entire season 5 storyline has basically been Blair and Rufus has just spent all this time being a trophy husband 🤡
Rufus, you dirty dog I hope you choke on your waffles. What this man has been doing with Ivy is sickening. I never liked his marriage or overall relationship with Lily since I always thought it made him look foolish but I know that he always loved her but to let it go down the drain for Ivy?! He feels responsible to help Ivy and is willing to go against Lily for it bc Ivy is a young lonely girl and the father in him feels responsible but then HE SLEEPS WITH HER! What in the world…
I was amused by Blair and Dan’s romcom start but let’s be fr they do not make sense together. Parasite isn’t even the word for Dan anymore he’s so annoying. He sabotaged Blair’s wedding and now he’s getting to reap the benefits of dating her. Dan cutting ties with Vanessa was so heartbreaking imo like he couldn’t forgive her for her actions when she’s been the only person who’s been there for him since day 1 but now he overlooks all of the faults of the UES people so he can eat caviar. At least even when Rufus played trophy husband to Lily all these years, he truly never wanted to lose who he was but Dan, who could’ve still been thriving at NYU, was willing to become everything he had frowned upon and in the end, it’s revealed Dan had only been so judgmental of the UES bc he’s been wanting to be apart of them all this time and only put on this self righteous act whenever he didn’t get what he had wanted from them.
