How to cut gel x properly?

I’m a beginner so please don’t mind the ugly cut and application )that’s the 3rd time in my life that I apply gel x), I’m learning 🥲

I’m experimenting with tips and these sculpted are the ones I think fit more my nails. The problem is that.. I have a very short nail bed. And all the tips are too long for me even the shortest. When I cut them and I try to shape I end up with a very bulky tip at the end (as you can see in the picture)

I was wondering if I should buy wayyy longer tips and then cut them or I should stick with the shortest, cut and then try to efile to reduce the bulk! I hope I’ve explained myself well.. sadly I cannot find tutorial about gel x cutting and filing so if you have some please toss it to me I’m an eager learner!

Don’t mind the nail art is my first time drawing on such a tiny nail and I was testing the water 🥲
