Unpopular opinion: there’s a huge double standard between the way Riya is treated vs the way other characters are treated
_ “Riya should be cancelled/ arrested bc she tried to kill her castmates”
Krystal herself tried to kill the cast in S2 (ep4) and put them in many life-threatening situations in AS (ep 2,3,14,16,17) and yet…there’s 0 uproar from the fandom. All the outrage is directed at Riya (or Ally for the bear situation…even though that was technically Krystal/the staff’ fault 😒)
_ “Riya SAd Alec bc she kissed him without his consent”
Last I checked, NO ONE in the DC universe ever asked for consent before kissing someone else. Yes, the way she treated Alec was gross…but if “not checking for consent” is the metric for SA then Jake (S1ep9), Hunter (S2ep9), Aiden (S2ep13) and Alec (ASep13) all committed SA too. I’d love to get educated on this topic but, right now, it just feels like SA is treated as gotcha to own Riya specifically
_ “Riya broke the rules in ep17 so she should’ve been disqualified”
Hunter also broke the rules in S2ep9 and yet that didn’t make people rant about him everything the episode is mentioned or making fanfics about him getting disqualified. Riya can’t say the same 😭
_ “The way she treated Connor in ep17 makes her the worst”
She had the exact same mentality Miriam had in S1ep12: they were both determined to win the challenge and they were willing to risk their partners’ safety to achieve that goal. The only difference was that Miriam had the power of slapstick on her side (since she was meat to be liked) while Riya didn’t (since she was meant to be disliked). Also, how is a fit middle-aged man more fragile than a 6-year-old girl and an actress ? 😅
I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion for this but I don’t really care 🤷🏽♀️
