"A" Monkey's Paw
I recently added to a magic item menu list I am creating, a magic wand
Each day the wand has 10 magic spells, not any of the same ones of day before. It will randomly cast a spell when activated. Once activated, that spell will take eff ct appropriately. It will 50% work exactly as written RAW. The other 50% the players will have to deal with the consequences.
Example: Party is attacked, wand is activated as attack. ( Distort Value Spell ), the Attacking foes are wearing armor now that looks like it is worth half its value. ( 8 hours duration )
Not so bad. ...... In dungeon: wand used to heat Metal on fighters coming at PCs, ray misses and hits treasure; melting 672 gold pieces and five rare gems into a hunk of messy wealth.
Next: Wand activated against foes, heals 10 hit points on injured Gnoll.
So, what other kinds of wild, wacky containers can I use for fickle effects.
Ring of invisibility ( roll d12 > 5 ) equals 5 % now shifting to an alternate plane unknown. Upon reaching 100% plus they are transported completely. ( Results not gradual but binary ).
