Can you charge diesel car battery?

I have a diesel swift desire and the battery is not showing the green indicator. Even after jump starting after some time the steering wheels locks up while driving and instrument cluster is shower battery indicator as well. Can I charge diesel car battery or maybe change the water in it? I don't know exactly how it works. And if so..how much does it cost to charge the battery?
